Assignment
Now that you've completed the practice exercise and are more comfortable using Scratch, you are ready to start working on your Assignment.
For this assignment, you have TWO choices. Read them, pick ONE, and get started. Also, your assignment should NOT just be a different version of the 'Dog in the Desert' project that you've already completed.
No matter which option you pick, remember that you need to ADD SOUNDS to your game. As you may already know, sounds can make a big difference in games; they can make good games great and they can make great games fantastic.

- Watch the video on the right and make your own version of the Pong game.
Please note that the guy in the video is using an older version of Scratch. This means that some of the things that he does may not match up exactly with what you will need to do. I'm sure you'll be fine though. As always, if you need help with anything, try asking your group members first and then Mr. Locke if necessary. :)
As mentioned above, you should ADD SOUND to your Pong game (even though the guy in the video does not). Two other tips: (A) If a paddle tilts when it touches the edge of the screen, you will need to add a block that re-points it in the direction of 90 degrees. (See the picture on the right.) (B) When creating the ball, you can hold down the shift key to make sure that it stays perfectly round. You can also just use a sprite for the ball instead. |

2. Come up with your OWN idea for a game or an interactive animation.
Try not to come up with anything TOO complicated since this is your first real Scratch project and you have a limited amount of time to work on it. If you choose to do Scratch in Grade 7 or 8, you will have a chance to make something more in depth then. (Of course, you can also work on Scratch games at home or when the Tech room is open during noon hours.)
