(NOTE: You are only allowed to complete this unit if you have already completed 'Scratch 2'.)

If you don't already have a Scratch account (or if you have one but can't remember the username and password), you will need to create a new one. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Open a new tab in Google Chrome by selecting 'New Tab' from the 'File' menu. You may also push Command-T to open a new tab.
  2. In this new tab, go to scratch.mit.edu.
  3. Click on 'Join Scratch' to create your new Scratch account.
  4. For your username, type your school username (the same one that you use to log into your computer).
  5. For your password, type your school password.
  6. For your email address, type your school username, followed by @student.nbed.nb.ca. For example, if your username was JohSmi00123, you would type johsmi00123@student.nbed.nb.ca for your email address (all lower case letters will be fine).

As always, if you need help with any of this, please ask. :)

For this assignment, you will create a more complex Scratch game based on your own idea. After completing Scratch 1 and Scratch 2, you should now be quite comfortable with attempting to do this.

Here are a couple of instructional videos that you may find useful. You are not required to watch these. However, if you are wondering how to properly make your character jump or how to make your background scroll as your character walks, then you should definitely check out these videos.

Assignment Guidelines:
  1. Your game needs to have at least five different sprites.
  2. Your game needs to feature at least three sounds.
  3. Your code needs to include at least three variables.
  4. Your game must have at least three different levels/stages.
  5. Your game must have some sort of a goal that the player is trying to accomplish.
  6. It must be possible to win and lose your game and it should be obvious when either of these things happen.
  7. Everything else is completely up to you!

When you have finished your assignment, be sure to check it over carefully and make sure that you have followed all of the instructions.

Then, you should place the .sb2 file in the Dropbox and let Mr. Locke know which unit you wish to begin next.
