STAGE 1

WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR BITS BACK AT THE END OF CLASS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RETURN THEM TO THE PROPER CONTAINERS! (Sorry for shouting, but it's really important.)
You will notice that your littleBits have been separated into FOUR different containers. One is for LEGO brick adapters and power sources. One is for PINK bits (input), one is for GREEN bits (output), and the last one is for ORANGE bits (wires, logic and some other types of connectors).

A note on the 'Buzzer' bit. Only use it when you absolutely NEED to, as it can be distracting to the other students (and me). If you find yourself needing to do a lot of testing on a circuit that involves the buzzer, just substitute a different bit instead and then, once you have everything working properly, you can use the buzzer.

Too much 'buzzing' will result in the Buzzer bit being taken away.

You will begin with Book 1. You need to construct the following circuits:
  1. "My Very First Circuit"
  2. Light Meter [since our classroom lights will be on, you should set the switch to 'dark' for this]
  3. Morning Alarm [again, you should set the switch to 'dark' for this]
  4. Intro to DC Motor
  5. Car Speed
  6. Siren

After you complete each one, you need to record a quick video on your video camera. At the beginning of each video, one of the group members will state what the littleBits circuit is supposed to do and then you will record the circuit in action. If it does not work properly, then you will need to push the stop button on the camera, delete the video, figure out what went wrong and then try again. Once you have successfully documented the circuit, you can move on to the next one.
