In Stages 1 & 2, you got to play around with a bunch of littleBits and you learned how they work and some of the things they can do. Now, it's time to go a little further.
You need to complete an actual littleBits project. If you have your own original idea, you will need to run it by me for approval. Then, if I let you do it, you may start designing and building it.
However, you may also choose to browse the littleBits website and find a project that somebody else has already designed. You may then follow the instructions and make that project. Of course, if you go this route, you can still feel free to put your own creative spin on things too.
Check out some project ideas HERE and HERE. You may also look for projects elsewhere on the littleBits site. Before starting a project though, you will need to run it by me for approval. Also, you should make sure that we actually have the required bits for the particular project you are interested in.

We don't have enough littleBits to provide each group in each class with a different set. We only have ONE set, so different groups from different classes will need to use the same bits. This means that, when there are about 10 minutes left in the period, you will need to borrow a digital camera from Mr. Locke and take a picture of your project, so you can capture how you have your littleBits connected. Then, sadly, you will need to disassemble the littleBits and return them to the proper containers so that the next group will be able to use them.
Mr. Locke will then copy the picture you have taken to your home folder and, at the beginning of the next class, you will be able to look at the picture in order to properly reassemble your circuit(s). It's far from perfect, but it's the best we can do. :) |
After you complete your project, you will need to record one final video on your video camera. At the beginning of the video, all group members should be involved in explaining the project and how it works. You should also explain any problems you encountered along the way and how you resolved those problems.
Then, of course, you will record the project in action. |
